My 15 rules of the gluten-free kitchen
Cooking can be great fun and isn't as difficult as you might think! However, you should be sure to follow a couple of simple rules. Before you start, read through my 15 tips and then you'll be ready to go!

Get some help
Where you're cooking, mummy or another adult should always be nearby, just in case something goes wrong or you don't know what to do next…
Keep it clean
Before you start, wash you hands thoroughly and put an apron on. Only use clean pots and kitchen equipment, ideally your own!
Be prepared
Read the whole recipe and ask if there is something you don't understand. Make sure you have all the ingredients and equipment that you need.
Is everything gluten-free?
Have your list of gluten-free foods from your coeliac society ready to hand and carefully check that all of the ingredients are gluten-free.
Measure accurately
Measure out all of the ingredients accurately according to the recipe: use scales, a measuring jug or measuring spoon for the dry ingredients and a measuring jug for liquid ingredients.
Use a board
Do not chop ingredients on the table or on the work surfaces, always use an appropriate, clean chopping board instead! Be careful when using the knife!
Always keep your mind on the job
You should always stay calm when you're cooking. Don't rush about or get impatient and always think about what you are doing.
Take care when chopping
Never touch the blade of a knife. If you have never used a knife before, then get somebody to help you.
Don't burn yourself
Take care: Always use oven gloves when putting dishes into and taking dishes out of the oven and when taking hot pans off the hob!
