My kitchen ABC
Have you come across any words in my recipes that you don't know? Chefs use special terms for many things. I will explain the most important ones for you here. Then you can learn not only to cook but also the "language of the kitchen"!

Deep-frying involves immersing food in a lot of fat as it is cooking, for example those chips you love. This is quite dangerous because the pan and the fat have to be very hot and the fat often sprays out of the pan. If possible, you should get an adult to do this.
...means allow to melt over heat; for example, you can do this with butter or cooking chocolate.
When it comes to cooking, this obviously doesn't involve the fire brigade! It means that you should pour some liquid i.e. water or stock into the pan with the simmering food.
This refers to a mixture of vinegar, oil and spices which can be poured over a salad to dress it.
